Belle Meade is a fantastic Tennessee Bourbon and goes down smoothly. I prefer it as a sipper but it’s versatile enough to use in craft cocktails as well.

Tasting Notes

Nose

There are notes of oak, navel oranges, saw dust, and walnuts, with a noticeable heat. Very bright.

Taste

In the mouth neat, I first notice a significant burn and rye spice. The mouthfeel is somewhat harsh and astringent, and that combined with the heat make specific flavors difficult to pull out. Finishes warm and snappy, a bit watery, and the slightest hint of charcoal.

Finish

The finish, while is smooth and mellow, has hints of dark fruits, including cherries and plums, that are accented by a touch of cinnamon and rye.
