This expression of Dad's Hat Pennsylvania Rye Whiskey is
made from a mashbill of 80% rye, 15% malted barley and
5% malted rye. Aged for six months in charred, new oak
quarter casks, it is then finished for three months in casks
which used to hold port, adding fruity sweetness to the

About the brand

Our mission is to distill and deliver classic Pennsylvania Rye spirits following over 200 years of American
distilling tradition. Working with our community and giving back to the whiskey-loving public is a big part of
what truly keeps Dad’s Hat “Pennsylvania Proud”. American farmers saw homemade distilling as their right
and when, in 1791, the new United States Federal Government imposed a whiskey tax these same farmers
threatened to secede from the union. This incident, known as the Whiskey Rebellion, was obviously not
successful, but it was surely an indication of how important rye whiskey was to our country’s early history.
Pennsylvania rye was known not just for the independent nature of its makers, but also for the quality of the
product itself. As early as 1810, Pennsylvania’s distillers were making over 6 million gallons of rye whiskey
annually. Throughout the 1800’s the size and reputation of Pennsylvania’s rye whiskey producers continued
to grow. By the end of the 1800s individual distilleries in Pennsylvania were making hundreds of thousands……

Slick the nose emanates some toasted caramel-toffee notes with a trace of tannin likely from the port barrels. On the taste (perfect) there is some warmth from the 94 Proof with some increasingly toasted toffee notes and a touch of sweet port notes. A sprinkle of water subdues the warmth and permits a greater amount of the toasted organic product toffee come through. A delectable treat without a doubt.

Nose

Dark, robust color with a nose of deep florals, fruit and spices.

Taste

Forward pepper yields to the port fruit on the mid-palate, complemented by cinnamon and cloves. Coats the tongue and finishes with black cherry.

Finish

The finish is warming and well-balanced.
