Monkey 47 Gin began back in 1950 when founder Alexander Stein heard of the story of Montgomery
Collins; a Wing Commander in the British Air Force who took over the ‘Wild Monkey’ guest house in
the Black Forest of Germany, otherwise known as Schwarzwald. Here, Collins learned the traditions of
distilling fruit and eventually developed his specialty gin. Stein rejuvenated Collin’s Black Forest Dry
