Based on a historically-significant iteration of whiskey first distilled back in 1796, Basil Hayden is a legacy-bourbon brand originally launched by Booker Noe in 1992. Produced in Clermont Kentucky under the family of brands owned by renowned liquor producer Jim Beam, this subtle whiskey is the lower-proof sibling of other Beam offerings such as Knob Creek and Booker’s Bourbon. Named after devout Catholic Basil Hayden Sr, dubbed the “Father of High-Rye Bourbon”, this premium brand mirrors the spicy richness of one of the first high-rye whiskies available on the market. Originally labeled with an 8 year age statement, Basil Hayden replaced its age guarantee in 2014 with “Artfully Aged”, officially becoming NAS whiskey. The brand is cited as the lightest-bodied small batch bourbon available from Jim Beam.
