Founded by Charles Mackenlay in 1815 in Edinburgh, Scotland, Mackinlay's - otherwise known as Mackinlay & Co Ltd at the time - started producing in the 1860s. By 1907, the brand was highly favored throughout the country, so much so that 25 cases were famously selected to accompany Lord Ernest Shackleton as the official Scotch whisky for his adventures in Antarctica.
