Caymus Vineyards of Rutherford, Napa Valley California was established by the Wagner family - namely, Charlie Sr. and Lorna Wagner, along with this predecessor and son Chuck Wagner. The family farmed the property since the 1940s, opening the now-renowned Caymus Vineyards winery in 1972. After hiring master winemaker Randy Dunn in 1975, the brand offered its first flagship wine; the Caymus Special Selection. This highly favored iteration isn't produced every year, but rather only in the 'better years'. In 1989, the vintage 1984 Special Selection was named Wine of the Year by the experts of Wine Spectator - winning this prestigious title again in 1990 and 1994. With this award-winning legacy already established, Caymus Vineyards has gone on to become a leading producer of premium Napa Valley wine, offering several varietals including its signature Cabernet, Zinfandel, and Sauvignon Blanc - as well as non-Cabernet offerings such as Mer Soleil; a superior Chardonnay created by Chuck Wagner's eldest son, Charlie Wagner. Additionally, Joseph Wagner - Chuck's second son - established his own line of wines, Belle Glos, which offers five distinct varietals of select Pinot noir. Caymus Vineyards is a lifetime of achievement for a family with deep roots in the dark soil of California's pristine wine country.
