In 1999, Glenmorangie's Master of Whiskey Creation, Dr. Bill Lumsden, noticed how well their 1981 single malt had aged. Rather than just bottle the 1981 batch, Lumsden decided to age the whisky further in casks he had acquired from Sauternes from the vineyards of Chateau d'Yquem. After a decade in these casks, the Pride Chateau d'Yquem Cask Finish 28 Year Old Single Malt was ready. And it was well worth the wait. Produced by the Glenmorangie Distillery of Tain Ross-shire Scotland - known for having the tallest stills in the country, Glenmorangie is a renowned brand of single malt Scotch first released in 1987.
