This extra aged edition of herby favourite Chartreuse. The VEP stands for Vieillissement Exceptionnellement Prolongé, meaning "exceptionally prolonged aging", in this case at least eight years. Milder and sweeter than the legendary green version, this limited edition French liqueur is made by Carthusian monks from a heavily guarded recipe. It’s produced with 130 herbs, plants and flavors, macerated in alcohol and steeped for eight hours, with extra-long aging in oak vats to add depth. About the brand

Defined by its natural green color and bold palate, Chartreuse Green is a brand of liqueur that was officially established in 1840. Originally produced by Carthusian monks as far back as 1737, this "elixir of long life" is still manufactured at the Grande Chartreuse monastery located in the Chartreuse Mountains in the French Alps by two monks - the only ones who know the secrets of Chartreuse Green. Derived from a carefully guarded alchemical recipe provided to the monks by French King Henry IV in 1605, Chartreuse Green contains over 130 distinct herbs, plants, and flowers, and is aged in large barrels of undisclosed origin for several years before bottling. This delicious herbal liqueur has continued to maintain its historical flavor and fame all over the world and is now produced in several prized iterations including Yellow Chartreuse, Chartreuse VEP, Liqueur du 9° Centenaire, and Chartreuse 1605 - Liqueur d'Elixir.

Herbal forest floor nose sprinkled with black peppery alcohol. Génépi, basil, lemon thyme and mint with pinecone woody aromas.

Taste

The wonderfully complex honeyed-silky palate has minty freshness, rooty notes and is mellow yet with grippy alcohol bite.
