Shenk's Homestead is a line of branded whiskey introduced by the Michter's Distillery of Lousiville KY in honor of the legacy and historical relevance of the brand itself along with memorializing American whiskey legend John Shenk and Michter's Schaefferstown PA Distillery. Shenk's Homestead Sour Mash is derived from portions of previously distilled whiskey mash, otherwise known as setback, added to the next batch and blended for a unique and highly distinct taste experience. Going beyond Michter's primary flavor profiles, Shenk's Homestead offers Michter's current Master of Maturation, Andrea Wilson, and Master Distiller Dan McKee the ability to explore commanding innovations and techniques to produce a whiskey truly worthy of Michter fans and collectors alike. The 2022 Shenk's Homestead Distillery Sour Mash Whiskey exemplifies this opportunity for exploration by blending a portion of distillate aged in special toasted French oak barrels made from 24-month air-dried wood imported from the Vosges region of France.
