About the brand
Joseph Magnus' Murray Hill Club Whiskey, first introduced in 1892, was reportedly one of the finest whiskeys on the market prior to Prohibition. The relaunched product was created using blending techniques that were regularly employed in Magnus' era but were largely lost with Prohibition. Fraley's background is in brandy production, and based on her experience she believed that the Murray Hill Club Whiskey would best be brought back using techniques and process similar to those used to create Cognac, Brandy, or a blended Scotch, including a slow reduction to reach final proof. The proof comes in at 102, making it just intense enough without losing any of its body.

This survey is of cluster 18. Would be pleasant if Nancy could fly in a let us know whether anything has changed for this group. Nose - So my early introduction is this is excessively sweet to an extreme and nearly getting into aspartame levels. I do at present get a pleasant piece of oak vanilla caramel...it is an exceptionally customary whiskey note and very on profile for somewhat of a conventional whiskey. That said it is amped up to 10 it's exceptional nosing there's unmistakably more extraordinary pleasantness than a 103 proof whiskey ought to give. In any case I can't generally give high applause on nose alone it's acceptable. Taste - This isn't the whiskey I recall from my first jug. You unquestionably get that there is some more established whisky in here. Including water truly helped this one. So with water you begin to get a portion of the better note however some fruity flavors are coming out as well. I'm getting a trace of tobacco as I go. This is mind boggling without anything leaping out and over fueling the general rich sweet matured whiskey profile. This is great whiskey. It isn't nutty it isn't chocolate it isn't cinnamon no mineral notes no over the top oak. It is those vanillas caramels corn and yes there's an oak note here yet it's simply great whiskey oak. It's mature enough there isn't a ton of an embrace" or a chomp however it has a great mouth feel and incredible verification. So I'm at a 3.25. An incredibly sold contribution somewhat costly yet the quality is here. There is a trace of a harsh completion that pushes me from 3.5 to the 3.25. I think the last container I had was pushing 4.0."

Tasting Notes
Nose
Caramel popcorn, blueberries, currants, hot chocolate with a bruleed marshmallow on top of it, oil paint, pine cones.
Taste
The nose is sweet, but on the palate this has a savory, tingly, spicy quality.
Finish
More of a rye. Black pepper. Vanilla. This is more alcohol-forward than the Magnus.
