bottle
Introducing Remus Repeal® Series III, the latest edition of the award-winning collection. Comprised of a medley of two different mash bills, Series III is carefully crafted to honor the repeal of Prohibition on December 5, 1933. Annually released on November 13th - King George’s birthday - the 2019 limited edition of Remus Repeal Reserve. This is the third straight blended bourbon release released by the brand to commemorate the repeal of Prohibition. The straight bourbons were distilled at MGP in Indiana and are made from two high-rye mash bills. For the blend, 12% was distilled in 2007 and 78% was distilled in 2008 from a mash bill with 21% rye. The remaining 10% was distilled in 2008 from a mash bill with 36% rye. This is a limited release set to launch on November 13, the birthday of the brand's namesake, George Remus, "the king of bootleggers."

About the brand
From Apothecary to Kingpin, George Remus created one of the most intricate, successful bootlegging operations of Prohibition. His legend continues today with the family of George Remus Bourbons. Saying George Remus was just a bootlegger is like saying Hemingway was just a writer. In the 1920s, if baseball had Ruth, bourbon had Remus. But this King George didn't reside in England, he was a son of Cincinnati. Starting as an apothecary, he soon found a loophole or two in the Volstead Act to craft bourbon for "medicinal purposes." Knowing a great opportunity when he saw it, and a great bourbon when he created it, he began his Prohibition empire. And while he respected the Volstead Act, to King George, it was but a mere suggestion.

I should remark on the master scores however lets simply proceed onward. Nose - from the outset I get some dill maybe from the 36% rye squash bill yet fortunately that is growing dim. I'm getting cinnamon overwhelming vanilla...more like what tops off an already good thing some fruity notes trace of tobacco and some fruity notes. Taste - I have to figure out how to clarify exemplary MGP. While I do believe there's a dash of dill harsh notes. I'm getting a wide range of more seasoned whisky noticed the tobacco trace of calfskin a ton of zest yet in addition more youthful notes with more warmth that you'd expect on a half jug a touch of youth in the oak and some out of control notes. I didn't cherish this when I initially opened it however I've turned up at ground zero this is darn useful for the age and I'm truly glad to have it. I'll let you settle on 85 bucks...that's somewhat high for 10 and multi year old whiskey imo however we live in peculiar occasions with whiskey. 3.5 stars and very good grade for me on a whiskey at this age yet they've truly got something here. This is a substantially more intricate whiskey than ECBP or EHT barrel proof two exceptionally talked about whiskeys. They do have their favorable circumstances past simply barrel evidence however I think MGP truly has something with these mixes of whiskeys and their divulgence.

Tasted at a whiskey tasting occasion. Caramel and vanilla smell with some oak. Vanilla and caramel with a bit of warmth forthright. Oak and a pinch of flavor follows in the long completion.

Perfect. Neck pour. Sharp on the button. Butterscotch. Caramel. Berries and cream. Trace of almond. The blend of high rye and low rye MGP is playing with me. Scents recognizable and afterward transforms a piece. Smooth mouth fell. Overwhelming flavor on the tongue. Cinnamon and barrel. On the taste the MGP butterscotch and vanilla rise. Those ready red organic products hit on the completion. No doubt bunches of cherry and vanilla on the completion on resulting drinks. Similarly delightful and baffling. Tasty in light of the fact that its MGP and those MGP dessert flavors are in full impact. Baffling in contrast with other MGP bottles I have around comparable years. That isnt reasonable however on the grounds that those other MGP single barrels are $40 $60 or $80 more than this. I think the cost is the obstacle. At $50 Id call this an absolute necessity purchase. At $70-$80 this is most likely my first and last Remus Exceptional Save.
