The whisky for this release was drawn from 5 Sherry butts and married for a year before bottling. Matured in five refill sherry butts, this unpeated single malt was distilled on Hogmanay in 1968 at Islay’s northernmost distillery. We have bottled it at cask strength after the angels took their generous share. Distillation on Islay in the 1960s has become famed for producing magnificent spirit full of tropical fruit flavours, making whiskies like this an incredibly rare treat. …

Tasting Notes

Nose

delicate fruity notes (apricots, pears, yellow plums) with bergamot and eucalyptus. Heather honey. Soft resinous notes and rubbed lemons. Subtle cashew nuts. Elegant and fresh.

Taste

Now more on woody notes. Menthol, nutmeg, plenty of citrus green tea. Crushed mint leaves. Resinous notes again, with a faint salty edge. Seville oranges. Wildflowers. Herbal potions towards the end.

Finish

Quite long, still on bittersweet oranges with cardamom, leafy notes and fragrant wood.
