Developed in 1946 and introduced into the market in 1951, Black Velvet Canadian Whisky has grown to become the second largest Canadian whisky in the world. Originally called Black Label, Master Distiller Jack Napier renamed this Canadian whisky to Black Velvet after tasting it's velvet-like smoothness. Black Velvet whiskies are unique among blended whiskies, as the spirits are blended before being put into the barrel, a process known as 'blending at birth'. Black Velvet offers several iterations; however its most famous is the signature smooth Black Velvet Original. Produced in Lethbridge, Alberta on the the edge of the Rocky Mountains, Black Velvet continues to build a legacy of crafting remarkably smooth Canadian whiskies.
